Dear Missionary,
Congratulations on your call to serve as a full-time missionary. We are excited for the opportunity to help you prepare. Although your mission call letter indicated that you will attend a Missionary Training Center, due to ongoing risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, you will participate in an online MTC experience through videoconference technology in your home or another suitable location. We do not know when MTCs will resume on-site training, but if conditions change far enough in advance of your start date that you will be able to receive training at an MTC, we will notify you and your stake president and provide the necessary instructions.
Your online training experience will begin on your originally scheduled MTC start date unless you are specifically notified otherwise. You will be assigned an online companion, and you will be joining an online district of missionaries for daily training classes led by two MTC instructors. You will also be assigned to conduct one hour of companion study and one hour of personal study each day and to complete practice assignments throughout the day.
Please watch for additional instructions regarding your online training that you will receive by email three weeks prior to your scheduled start date. These instructions will be sent to the missionary email address provided by the Church as described in the General Instructions Checklist found at missionary.churchofjesuschrist.org. It also will be sent to the personal email address you listed in your application. The addresses we have listed for you are:

Please follow the General Instructions Checklist on missionary.churchofjesuschrist.org to access and become familiar with your missionary email account. This will be your official account while you are a full-time missionary.
If you submitted a parent or relative’s email address as an acceptable contact in your application, a copy of this notice was also sent to that address.
You and your family can find answers to most general questions about online training here: Online MTC Training: Frequently Asked Questions
We are grateful for your desire to join in this significant work!

Elder Beck,
This message confirms that we have received notice that you:
- have
(or will have) completed a full COVID-19 vaccination at least two weeks
prior to your arrival at the MTC
- have
adjusted your schedule to begin your at-home MTC experience on Monday,
August 16, 2021.
You
are scheduled to come to the Provo MTC for on-site training on Wednesday,
August 25, 2021. Arrivals at the Provo MTC are scheduled between 12:30 and 2:00
PM. You will receive a more specific arrival time in class during your at-home
training week, but it will fall within that period.
Below
are links to two documents that will help you prepare for the at-home portion
of your training. Please review them carefully:
- At-home
MTC Experience for Missionaries: Please review and follow these guidelines for online
MTC training.
- Message
to Missionary Families: You may choose to read this message with your family
members to help them know how best to provide support during online
training. Please note the activities your family is invited to participate
in with you, including a virtual tour of the MTC and a Sunday evening
devotional with President and Sister Porter.
Those
documents will answer many common questions about the at-home training
experience. You may also review our answers to frequently asked questions on our website. We look forward to seeing you
online and on-site!

Sunday,
August 22, 2021 Devotional Invitation |
Elder Beck,
In a coming week, you will arrive at the Provo Missionary Training Center
(MTC) and begin your on-site portion of missionary training. We want to invite
you and family members to join Sister Porter and myself for an online, “Come
and See” devotional on Sunday evening Sunday, August 22, 2021. The
devotional will begin at 5:30 p.m. Mountain Time and will finish no later than
6:30 p.m. Please join us at https://zoom.us/my/workshop1.
The
purpose of the devotional is for us to briefly introduce ourselves to you and
your family and to show you what takes place within the Provo MTC. We want you
to know and feel the importance of this sacred place of learning and revelation
before you arrive.
After we introduce you and your family to the MTC, we will excuse your
family members so that we can continue our conversation about your learning
from personal/companionship study on Sunday morning in regards to receiving and
acting upon personal revelation. Please find attached resource material for
your study. Please make sure that you and your companion plan to connect Sunday
morning to study about and discuss personal revelation. Knowing how to seek,
receive, and act upon personal revelation will be key to your success in
fulfilling your missionary purpose and becoming a lifelong disciple of Jesus
Christ.
The devotional will provide you and the members of your family a brief but
important orientation to the Provo MTC. Sister Porter and I look forward to
meeting with you and your family.
Sincerely,
President and Sister Porter
Provo MTC President and Relief Society President
